seeking the wild of the everyday

our star shines on, sustaining life:

farewell to a sweet november
wild buckwheat in folsom

gathering acorns with diana on one of the last warm days of november. gathering acorns is one of the most restorative and grounding activities i have happened upon: you learn where to dig to find the biggest loads, you know how the shell feels if it's a sweet acorn, or a rotten acorn. we return, and become primal with the earth. relearning things that have been forgotten by the rest of the world.

in the canopy, her branches are sturdy.  i scope out groves, checking the quality of the acorn and the size of the bounty, honing my skill.

under our star, on our little blue planet. "a billion billion nuclear reactions warming our faces."

ending with an afternoon picnic to fill our joy batteries.

my dad turned 68. life marches on.

sorry for the scary blurry baby faces, which are otherwise adorable. link and his cousins and their daddies.
"where warmth is stored."

dinner at my sister merry's. she's holding my nephew river.

parsley tabbouli and apple/beet salad.

we were the lucky ones who got to take the school guineas over break. one of them looks like a discarded toupee and that much more the sweeter.

my family

teddy's school had a feast. these are the cool kids that have graduated. they stick together, and i self-project old-mom vibes.

teddy's turkey.

"look at daddy!"

hiking to fairy falls with new friends.

creek creature.

rock dwellers.

i am just a stitch in the knitted earth.

i'm loving the winter and all of the unique beauty that can only be found therein.
xoxo
