keep some room in your heart...

for the unimaginable. mary oliver.

happening of late: true stories 1-...?.

bun went full flop. sweet, sweet bunny puberty. we love him.

the completion of a large project:
it's happening: our shelves are DONE!! ty kicked major ass. big sigh of relief as the house comes back together. it's been a while
ty's cracking me up in this picture: putting up the first book!

and then our beloved books quickly start finding homes.
pilgrims at hinkle creek:
moving away from placerville has done wonders for my perception. i see beauty everywhere when once all i thought was beauteous was piney foothills. any sprawled out, developed place just wants to be seen for what she really is: pure beauty. beautiful pain. folsom. i see trees. and hills. and cattails and giant bird populations. and sweet places like hinkle creek that bridge the citrus heights and folsom areas.

i let linky dip his feet in. he was so mad when i didn't let him lollop right in.

greasy. it's great. i love boulders. we found some old grinding stones.

tiny teddy, or giant oak?

maiden hair fern... for some reason i feel like people eat this in soup? i should go and google.

linky turned one: me oh my, how time flies. he was a day old, and i was freaking out. he was so small! was his breathing okay? was he starving? it was so strange to have such a new and tiny person around; a person was born and we were never the same! you were so fragile! look at us now. we made it link. you're big. you walk around and seem to be heading in the direction of self-sufficiency. my favorite is when half of your diaper has come undone and you pull so fervently on the other side to keep it up. who knew you cared?? also: you're pretty good at holding small, rectangular objects to your ear and saying: hah, eeow, oooooo. this fascinates your father and i considering we spend so little time on the phone!
we thugged out the burbs, as usual.

and your dad and i ate this cake. you and teddy had a little bit. :)

and we went on a little trail to see the greening folsom hills

and played at the park. hobbit foot.

we fell in love all over again with pure color, those feral peacocks at the folsom zoo.

and the crowing rooster.

you goober eater

can you tell who he's gazing at in such a loving manner? lovely pink quince.

ps: daddy got me some sweet pussy willows from the farmer's market.
 carl came home:
oh, carl. we've missed you and your mopey artist ways. carl was in ny on a mormon mission. he helped clean up hurricane sandy and met a lot of interesting characters whilst in the bronx. our white bread brother gone off to the biggest city!

it was a regular slough  of familial celebrations.

he's already a country boy again...in the tree.

bella with buttercups and shooting stars, the sweetest and tenderest of foothill wildflowers.

sheep shearing:

here's me, combing and picking at the fleece. i'm near the tail so i'm a little grossed out. it's pretty stinky.

the rams.

buzzzzzzzzz...

ewe.

it was a regular folksy little early spring party: it's shearing time at renee's.
 discovery in rocklin:
buckeye burst.

and i was restored.

we love visiting ty at the airport.

how sweet is this poster my dad made? he has a really simple style. (at carl's homecoming at the airport.)

it's so much fun to be up in the sky with the birds, and planes, and clouds.

linky pushes too many buttons.

and then we hangout with some baby frogs.

this is what he looks like when he says "oooooooooooooooo!" but he does it on the in breath, so he's always sucking in air. it's the best.

snacking on redbud blossoms.

can it be? barefoot, slapping mosquitoes, sniffing the moist evening air and becoming filled with quivering excitement. what could it be?

xoxoxoxo
